In recent years, the government has implemented policies to promote crop production as a commodity, which has led to an increase in regional and international agricultural product trade. In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has signed with the Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China the phytosanitary conditions for the export of fresh durian from the Lao PDR to the People's Republic of China. Currently, the production of fresh durian for domestic consumption and export has expanded widely, which generates income for the people and contributes to the socio-economic development of the country.

Therefore, in order to streamline the management of the production and export of fresh durian, there must be uniformity and compliance with the phytosanitary requirements for the export of fresh durian from the Lao PDR to the People's Republic of China, laws, regulations, the International Plant Protection Convention, as well as trade facilitation.
